Jesus is here - part 5

Gradually, I began to see that the Lord was calling me to music ministry. Until this time, I was still playing locally with a band called 'Fred's Hat Band', just 'Fred' for short: named after a cat. The purpose of the band was not to perform but to cut an album and get a record contract. We worked and slaved over about 20 songs to perfect them enough to record. All the songs were original, written by members of the band. When we finally got them on record and submitted them to a few record companies, we were turned down by all. No takers. The complaint was : the music was too "down", too depressing. None of the companies were willing to take the risk that the material would sell. (not much to sing about when you don't know the Lord?) Needless to say, we were a discouraged group of people. It was supposed to be a sure thing! An interesting thing, however, happened at about the same time as our "turn down". I had invited the Jesus band, Tamarah, to come and hear our band 'Fred' for one of our few performances. When we finished I was talking to their bass player and I asked him what he thought of our band. He looked me straight in the eye and said, "it was great but, how would you like to play in the Lord's band" !!! Again, I didn't know what to say!! I think that was the first prophecy I'd ever received. It hit so hard and stuck in my mind so long! The Lord didn't waste any time getting that message to me. Very soon after that, I announced my resignation from "Fred's Hat Band". The bass player from Fred was the other person sitting in the circle when I received the Holy Spirit, so I think he understood, but the other guys didn't. One even told me I was a bit impressionistic. But I knew I was doing the right thing. The Lord wanted me in His band. Hallelujah!
